School etiquette – entering the Do Jang: Upon entering the Do Jang, pause by the entrance face the flags and salute by holding the right hand open and across the chest with the palm facing the heart and bow in the direction of the flags. This demonstrates respect for our country and our school. When arriving late, bow to the flags and wait at attention until recognized by the instructor. Following recognition, bow to the instructor and enter quietly.

 

White belt color represents winter season, emptiness, hidden potential, and purity. Your potential at this stage of your training is covered by the pure white snow. You are as yet untouched by the knowledge and experience of training in the martial art of Tang Soo Do.

The belts are presented in a circle to represent the never-ending training cycle.

School etiquette – Your uniform is called a Do Bok. This is a composite word meaning Do (way of life) and Bok (apparel or clothing). A complete uniform is required to train and it is important to keep your uniform as neat and clean as possible at all times. Outside appearance and inside attitude are closely linked.

Dan members shall have trimmed uniform jackets which include lapel, cuff sleeves, and all around the bottom border. Gup and Dan lapel shall cover the lapel binding (approximately 1 Ύ inch).
